09/ MANCHESTER UMBRO FUTSAL CUP – EVENT PROGRAMME

9th – 10th August 2008 will mark a unique beginning for the Umbro International Futsal Tournament. Your Futsal club could be in Manchester to be part of what will be the first of a yearly showcase of international Futsal competition in England.

The Umbro International Futsal Cup will provide an entirely new Futsal experience in a pioneering city that is always first in delivering new ideas and ideologies. The world of Futsal has arrived in Manchester!

Competition Format:

• FIFA Futsal Rules apply
• Competition sanctioned by the FA
• Squads of 12 Players with up to 2 Goalkeepers
• All players must be registered before competing
• Two halves of 20 minutes (depending on number of teams entering tournament)
• Group format over two days (cup and plate competition)
• Players must be 16 or over
• Trophies and presentation ceremony included

The Umbro International Futsal Tournament is the culmination of the increasing popularity of Futsal in England and the work that Manchester Futsal Club has undertaken to raise the profile of this UEFA and FIFA endorsed small-sided game within Manchester.

Whether you’re an established Futsal club, or a newly formed team, the Umbro International Futsal Tournament will provide a professional and exciting environment for you to compete and witness international club Futsal in Manchester for the very first time.

The Umbro International Futsal Tournament will be hosted at the state-of-the-art Sugden Sports Centre, which is jointly owned by The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University. The venue contains two purpose built modern sports halls with two FIFA regulation size wooden floored Futsal courts with designated spectator areas.

The Umbro International Futsal Tournament is a Men’s Open-Age competition. Players must be aged 16 and over to compete within the tournament and all players will be required to be registered prior to the tournament commencing. All tournament rules and registrations will be distributed to competing clubs when fixture programmes are finalised.
